On Monday, the Effingham Unit 40 school board made important decisions regarding personnel changes that could impact the community significantly.
One of the notable appointments was that of Julie Woltman, who has been named as a paraprofessional at the junior high school. Additionally, Kortney Conner has been approved to take on the role of paraprofessional at Central Grade School. Furthermore, the board confirmed Regina King’s position as a six-hour cook at the high school, ensuring that students will continue to receive nutritious meals.
In terms of volunteer roles, the board welcomed several enthusiastic individuals: Ashley Clough will serve as the junior high cheer coach, while Jackson Lee has stepped into the position of junior varsity baseball coach. Additionally, Brett Ward has been appointed as the assistant wrestling coach at the high school, bringing his expertise to the team.
However, with new roles come some bittersweet farewells. The board accepted resignations from Jeff McGee, who has decided to step down from his position as a bus driver, and Victoria Wilson, who is leaving her role as a swing shift custodian. Moreover, Paula Bullard’s retirement as a cook at the high school was also acknowledged, marking the end of an era for the school's kitchen staff.
These personnel adjustments reflect ongoing efforts to ensure that the educational environment remains supportive and enriching for both students and staff alike. But here's where it gets controversial: how do these changes affect the dynamics within the schools? Are we prioritizing the right positions for the success of our students?
