The legendary bass player Christian Olde Wolbers, once a member of the iconic band Fear Factory, is gearing up to join forces with Overkill for their upcoming 'Thrash of the Titans' tour in March/April 2026. This tour will see Overkill, the renowned New Jersey thrash metal veterans, supported by Testament and Destruction. Wolbers will step in to fill the shoes of Overkill's bassist, D.D. Verni, who is currently battling a persistent shoulder issue. This isn't the first time Wolbers has stepped up; he previously filled in for Verni during a North American tour in the fall of 2024, where Overkill supported King Diamond. Additionally, Overkill has been known to adapt, enlisting the help of ex-Kreator bassist Christian 'Speesy' Giesler for some European shows in September 2024. The band's frontman, Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth, revealed in an interview that Verni's shoulder problem dates back to 2019, and the band's show frequency is adjusted accordingly. Verni himself has expressed his determination to continue performing, even if it means taking breaks to manage his shoulder condition. The band's resilience is further showcased by their recent studio sessions for the follow-up to their 2023 album, 'Scorched', which is set for a late 2026 release. Overkill's dynamic has also seen a recent change with the addition of new drummer Jeramie Kling, replacing Jason Bittner, who bid farewell earlier in 2024. Overkill's ability to adapt and maintain their legendary status in the face of challenges is a testament to their enduring legacy in the world of thrash metal.
