Remembering Miles L. Carpenter (1944-2026): A Life of Service, Family, and Legacy (2026)

With a heavy heart, we come together to share the news of the passing of our beloved father, Miles Ludlow Carpenter, who left us on January 7, 2026. He was the cherished son of the late Perley and Rheta (Wilkinson) Carpenter, and he was also the devoted husband of the late Fernande (Robichaud) Carpenter.

Born in Oakville, New Brunswick, and raised in Marysville, Miles's journey took him from his childhood home to significant achievements in life. After completing his education at Fredericton High School, he pursued higher learning at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Upon returning to Fredericton, he embarked on a fulfilling career with the provincial government.

In 1972, destiny brought him together with our mother. Just months after their initial meeting, they exchanged vows and began what would become an incredible 48-year union filled with love until our mother’s passing five years ago. Their shared commitment to volunteering, church activities, and community service was a hallmark of their life together, reflecting their dedication to helping others.

Throughout his life, dad was actively involved in numerous organizations, including Scouting and the Knights of Columbus, along with various committees that aimed at improving community engagement. Following his retirement from public service, he established his own consulting firm, allowing him to dedicate even more time to the Knights of Columbus and pursue his passion for genealogy. His research into the Carpenter family lineage culminated in the publication of two books and the organization of several family reunions, which were treasured gatherings for all involved.

Miles had a variety of interests that brought him joy; he loved gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, woodworking, and being outdoors. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family, particularly with our mother and his grandsons.

He is survived by his loving children, Michelle (Brent) Dore and Jamie (Jennifer) Carpenter, as well as his grandsons, Jake Dore (Alyssa) and Riley Dore (Robyn). His legacy continues through his great-granddaughters, Oaklynn, Vallie, and Daphne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Johnny, Murray, and Terry, as well as his in-laws, Onesime and Gertrude Robichaud, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home, located at 540 Woodstock Road. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Monday, January 12, at 11 AM, at Holy Family Parish Church, situated at 1500 Hanwell Road, with Father Bill Brennan officiating the service. A private burial for family members will take place at a later date.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff in Dixon at York Care, who provided exceptional care during the past three years.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Miles’s spirit of generosity.
