In a shocking incident that has left the community in disbelief, a man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the stomach during an altercation at a bar in central Wellington over the weekend.
The police reported that this alarming event took place around 1:30 AM on Saturday at the Ace of Spades Bar, situated on Allen Street, close to the lively Courtenay Place area.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch provided details, stating that the situation escalated into a fight involving a few patrons. The unfortunate victim was stabbed in the abdomen, resulting in significant injuries, according to Leitch.
Thanks to the quick actions of the bar's security staff, who intervened promptly, the parties involved were separated, and immediate first aid was administered to the victim. As of now, he is receiving treatment in the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Leitch emphasized the importance of community assistance in such cases, urging anyone who may have witnessed the events of December 13 or possesses any video footage to come forward.
"We are also interested in hearing from anyone who might have information about those involved in this altercation," he added.
